毛孩在家要怎麼把毛梳好？
How to Brush Your Pet at Home
梳毛不只是為了讓毛髮看起來整齊，也能帶走浮毛、減少打結，並幫助我們留意皮膚有沒有異常。訣竅是選對工具、動作輕柔，再根據毛髮狀況安排頻率。
Brushing helps remove loose hair, reduce tangles, and gives you a chance to check your pet’s skin. The keys are choosing a suitable brush, using a gentle touch, and adjusting the routine to your pet’s coat.
先選對梳子，也選對時機
Choose a brush and a calm moment
短毛通常適合軟毛刷或橡膠刷；長毛、容易打結的毛髮，可用針梳配合寬齒梳。每隻毛孩的毛質不同，不確定怎麼選時，可以問獸醫或美容師。找個安靜、舒服的地方，讓毛孩先聞聞梳子，再從幾下開始；願意配合時就給點零食或誇獎。
A soft-bristle or rubber brush often works well for short coats. Longer coats that tangle easily may need a slicker brush and a wide-toothed comb. Every coat is different, so ask your veterinarian or groomer if you’re unsure which tools to use. Pick a quiet, comfortable spot. Let your pet sniff the brush, begin with a few strokes, and offer praise or a treat when they’re comfortable.
分區輕輕梳，別急著拉
Brush gently, one section at a time
從頭頸開始，順著毛髮生長的方向，一小片一小片地梳，再慢慢梳到背部、腿和尾巴。耳後、腋下、腹部和腿後側比較容易打結，要特別輕柔。遇到小結時先停下來，用手指輕輕鬆開；如果毛結貼著皮膚、梳不開，或毛孩明顯疼痛、緊張，就先停手。
Start around the head and neck, brushing in the direction the hair grows. Work through small sections, then move to the back, legs, and tail. Be especially gentle around the ears, under the front legs, on the belly, and behind the legs, where tangles often form. If you find a small knot, pause and gently loosen it with your fingers. Stop if a mat is close to the skin, won’t come free, or your pet seems uncomfortable.
一般日常梳理，順著毛髮生長的方向梳即可。上方圖解的「由後往前、由下往上、分區逐層」是逆毛分層梳法，適合泰迪等捲毛犬，能把毛根附近的小結也梳開。
For everyday brushing, simply brush in the direction the hair grows. The back-to-front, bottom-up, layer-by-layer method in the illustration above is a line-brushing technique suited to curly coats such as poodles, helping to work out small tangles close to the skin.
按毛長調整頻率
Adjust the routine to the coat
短毛犬通常每週梳一次左右；長毛、絲質或捲毛的犬隻，可能需要每天梳理。短毛貓每週梳一兩次通常就有幫助，長毛貓則常需要每隔幾天梳一次，視毛況調整。
Short-coated dogs often do well with weekly brushing. Long, silky, or curly-coated dogs may need daily brushing. Short-haired cats may benefit from brushing once or twice a week, while long-haired cats often need attention every few days. Adjust based on how your pet’s coat looks and feels.

發現緊實毛結，別拿剪刀剪
Don’t cut out tight mats with scissors
貼近皮膚的毛結可能把皮膚一起帶起來，剪的時候容易誤傷。若毛結梳不開，或皮膚已經發紅、疼痛，請交給專業美容師或獸醫處理。
A tight mat can pull the skin with it, making it easy to injure your pet. If a mat won’t brush out, or the skin looks red or sore, ask a professional groomer or veterinarian for help.
把梳毛變成短短的日常互動，毛孩會更容易適應；每次梳完，也順手看看皮膚有沒有腫塊、傷口或寄生蟲跡象。
Keep each session short and pleasant, and grooming can become a comfortable part of your routine. After brushing, take a quick look for lumps, wounds, or signs of parasites.
