Gather your brush, soft cleaning pads, and a few treats. Choose a quiet spot with good footing. Support your pet gently without squeezing or forcing them to stay still. Look them over from head to toe. If they seem frightened, avoid handling, or appear sore, pause and try again later—or ask a professional for help.

眼角有少量分泌物時，可用溫水沾濕的乾淨軟布輕輕擦拭眼周，再擦乾。若出現紅腫、瞇眼、眼睛混濁，或黃色、綠色、紅色分泌物，應盡快聯絡獸醫。

For a small amount of discharge around the eyes, gently wipe the area with a clean, soft cloth dampened with warm water, then pat it dry. Contact your veterinarian promptly if you notice swelling or redness, squinting, a cloudy eye, or yellow, green, or red discharge.

耳朵先看有沒有明顯異味、紅腫或分泌物；並非每隻狗狗都需要定期清耳。需要清潔時，使用獸醫建議的耳道清潔液和棉球或紗布，只清理能看見的部位，不要把棉花棒伸進耳道。耳朵發紅、疼痛或有異味時，先諮詢獸醫。

Start ear care by checking for an unusual smell, redness, swelling, or discharge. Not every dog needs routine ear cleaning. If cleaning is needed, use a veterinarian-recommended ear cleaner with cotton balls or gauze, and clean only the parts you can see. Never put a cotton swab into the ear canal. If the ears are red, painful, or smelly, check with your veterinarian first.

照顧口腔，也留意指甲和腳掌
Care for the mouth, nails, and paws

讓毛孩慢慢習慣觸碰嘴邊，再用寵物專用牙刷和牙膏清潔牙齒。刷牙能幫助維持口腔健康；若有口臭、牙齦紅腫、流口水或進食困難，也要安排獸醫檢查。

Let your pet gradually get used to having their muzzle handled, then use a pet toothbrush and pet toothpaste. Brushing helps support oral health. Bad breath, swollen gums, drooling, or difficulty eating are reasons to arrange a veterinary check.

檢查指甲是否過長，修剪時少量多次，避免剪到指甲裡的血線；如果不熟悉修剪方法，可以請獸醫或美容師示範。接著看看腳掌和趾縫有沒有裂口、紅腫或異物，清潔後擦乾。狗狗會因活動量和指甲磨損程度不同，需要不同的修剪頻率。

Check whether the nails are getting too long. If you trim them, take off small amounts at a time and avoid the quick, the blood supply inside the nail. If you’re unsure how to trim safely, ask your veterinarian or groomer to show you. Then check the paw pads and between the toes for cracks, redness, or debris. Clean the area and dry it well. How often nails need trimming depends on your dog’s activity and how quickly the nails wear down.

梳理毛髮，順便檢查皮膚
Brush the coat and check the skin

按毛髮類型梳理全身，特別留意耳後、腋下和腿後等容易打結的地方。梳毛時也可以檢查皮膚有沒有紅疹、皮屑、寄生蟲或不易梳開的毛結。若毛結緊貼皮膚或梳理會讓毛孩疼痛，不要用剪刀處理，交給專業美容師或獸醫更安全。

Brush according to your pet’s coat type, paying special attention to areas that tangle easily, such as behind the ears, under the front legs, and behind the legs. As you brush, look for redness, flakes, parasites, or mats that won’t come loose easily. If a mat is tight against the skin or brushing seems painful, don’t cut it out with scissors; ask a professional groomer or veterinarian for help.
